why it's hard to sleep in new places ?!

Why we can't sleep in new places?
What is the first-night effect?

Many people first night's rest is everything but restful, even if they are tired and need for sleep, when we sleep in new place we  don't feel comfortable and safe and that's why our some people can't sleep very well.

Biologically half of our brain sleeps and the other half stay awake, this so weird but it is true and this phenomenon called "first-night effect".

What is the first-night effect ?!

Have you ever experienced poor sleep when you sleep in new environments or in unfamiliar place that you don't accustom to?
First-night effect is disturbance to sleep usually occurs when you sleep in unfamiliar environments.

When you sleep in new or unfamiliar place, you actually sleep like dolphin!! One half of your brain is more vigilant than the other to protect you during sleep.

This part of your brain watches out for any indication of danger and wake you up if find one, slightest sound, light, touch or other external stimuli can wake you up during the first night sleep.

First night sleep is characterized by reduction  of sleep time, and lower the sleep efficiencies, and reduction the important sleep stages like REM sleep.
Old study suggests that the first night effect may extend beyond the first night.

First night effect is just one thing of a lot of other things that our brain do protect itself, your brain always careful for new or unfamiliar places.
