between 1989 and 2019 Sudan experienced 30-years-long military dictatorship led by Omer al-Bashir, who was accused of human rights abuse, including torture and persecution of minorities, alligation of sponsoring global terrorism, and ethnic genocide due to its actions in the war in darfur region that broke out in 2003, the regime's actions killed an estimated 300000 to 400000 people.
